In short this is the definition by Unesco: “the legacy of physical artefacts and intangible attributes of a group or society that are inherited from past generations, maintained in the present and bestowed for the benefit of future generations”.

2018 is the European Year of Cultural Heritage. The initiave aims to encourage people to discover and engage with Europe’s cultural heritage. It also aims to reinforce a sense of belonging to a common European space. The slogan for the year is: “Our heritage: where the past meets the future”.
